TT-100 Tach Tape provides speed and frequency measurements from a magnetic pickup when only a smooth shaft or wheel is available. Tach Tape is a slotted, 1-inch (2.54 cm) wide, 1/16 inch (0.16 cm) thick strip of flexible magnetic polymer. Pressure sensitive adhesive on back side allows fastening to a smooth shaft.

Because of its unique magnetization and arrangement of slots, a series of alternate magnetic poles is generated along the length of the tape. A Dynalco magnetic pickup becomes activated when placed perpendicular to the moving tape surface.
